PHYSICAL EDUCATION


The graduation requirements for Physical Education are:
  • 4 credits of Physical and Health Education 10.
*All courses are worth 4 credits unless otherwise specified.

Grade 10
PHYSICAL EDUCATION 10 (MPHED10)
Physical and Health Education 10 combines physical activity and health education to help students develop both physical and mental health. Key topics include engaging in a variety of physical activities, building healthy relationships, and preventing themselves or others from experiencing bullying or harassment.
 
PHYSICAL EDUCATION 10- WELLNESS (MPHED10ACT)
Students build mental and physical health through movement, mindfulness, meditation, yoga, and land-based learning. Experience a variety of different ways to be active, both indoors and out.  This course will include a lot of field trips to various community and wellness centres.

Grade 11/12
ACTIVE LIVING 11/12 (MACLV11/ MACLV12)
This course is designed for students who are interested in a general physical education course. Focus is on self-directed student activity and getting students active in the activities they enjoy.
 
FITNESS AND CONDITIONING 11/12 (MFTCD11/ MFTCD12)
his course is designed for students who are more serious about improving their physical fitness through things like strength training or more intensive cardio. Fitness and Conditioning teaches students about the basics of anatomy, proper nutrition for training, and how to work out different parts of the body to train for different activities. This course is somewhat more specialized than Active Living 11 and 12 and would likely require access to specific equipment and facilities.
